Chief of Police, Buhler Police Department

  • Perform duties relating to all aspects of the protection of life and property within the City of Buhler, Kansas
  • Have required current KLETC Certification or obtain certification if coming from out of state
  • Have a primary residence within a few miles of the Buhler city limits
  • Maintain a work schedule which will require on-call time as the coverage is 24/7 with two full time Officers and the Chief
  • Perform patrol duties which include but are not limited to, enforcing traffic laws, enforcing and investigating crimes and accidents and city ordinance violations, assisting the other members of the police force, as well as outside agencies and the public with their requests
  • Direct all law enforcement activities and the supervise the Officers in a way that is accessible and responsive
  • Establish and maintain officer relationships and programs with the local grade school and high school
  • Coordinate and maintain inter-agency relationships
  • Interact positively and professionally with other departments and agencies
  • Be approachable and involved in the community
  • Maintain and update records in a timely and accurate manner
  • Have skill in policy development
  • Communicate and provide reports to the Mayor and Council as required
  • Coordinate and work with Mayor on priorities of the community
  • Maintain a reasonable budget and make purchases for the Police Department
  • Participate in community and area wide emergency management planning and training
  • Maintain required annual training regime
  • Perform other professional duties as required

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  Salary based on qualifications. Minimum base $40,000 + benefits.
