Chief of Police, Eudora Police Department

The City of Eudora, Kansas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief of Police.  This opening occurs due to the pending retirement of the current Chief.

Eudora, Kansas, a city of the second class, is located approximately 10 minutes east of Lawrence, Kansas and 15 minutes west of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. While conveniently located near the many amenities of a university community and a metropolitan area, the City of Eudora retains a distinct small town atmosphere and remains an attractive place to raise a family.  The population is approximately 6,500.

 The Chief of Police is one of four department heads who report to the City Manager.

The police department has an authorized strength of 11 full time sworn officers, including the Chief,  and one civilain Administrative Assistant who also serves as Municipal Court Clerk.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  The published salary range for this full time, FLSA exempt position is $62,653 to $87,714, plus a generous benefit package.  The City participates in the Kansas Police and Fire Retirement System.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum qualifications include Kansas Peace Officer certification or the ability to obtain such certification. Also, the successful candidate will demonstrate a record of supervisory experience and must pass a strong background check, psychological exam, possess or obtain a Kansas Driver License and have a clear driving record.

Must be willing to relocate to within the boundaries of the Eudora School District, USD 491 upon hire.
