The City of Goodland is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Goodland is a community of approximately 5,227 covering 4.371 sq. miles. We are progressive agency that employs 9 full-time sworn police officers located near the western border of Kansas. The Goodland Police Department offers a K-9 program, investigations division, and the latest in law enforcement technology. The Goodland Police Department operates the only Regional Law Enforcement Training Center in the Tri-State area in a newly remodeled facility.
Police Officer duties include responding to general public calls for service, investigating both misdemeanor and felony complaints, enforcing municipal, state and federal laws as well as traffic ordinances. SALARY: The City offers a competitive benefits package including paid health insurance for individual or family and KPERS retirement. All uniforms and equipment are provided, including take home patrol units.
KLETC Certification preferred, but not required. A higher starting salary is available for POST certified officers. Officers certified in other states may be eligible for reciprocity. Certified law enforcement applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material to be eligible for hiring.
• be U.S. Citizens that are at least 21 years of age
• possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• have the ability to obtain a valid Kansas Driver’s License
• have no felony convictions, diversions or expunged records
• no convictions for domestic battery
• possess good moral character
Applicants will be required to pass a written test, physical agility test, and an oral interview board. Final candidates will be required to pass an extensive background investigation. A conditional job offer requires the applicant pass a psychological evaluation, physical and drug test.
