Park Police Officer 1, Johnson County Park Police Department

Are you interested in law enforcement?  Do you also enjoy nature?   Does working daily in a park setting appeal to you?   If so, please consider becoming a Johnson County Park Police Officer.  We are a certified law enforcement agency through the State of Kansas.  Johnson County Park Police Officers patrol Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) properties including parks, sporting complexes and trails.  Our Park Police Officers assist park visitors, enforce Kansas laws and JCPRD Park Codes, detect crimes and arrest offenders.   We work closely with other law enforcement agencies in Johnson County.  Community policing is a very important part of our job and includes presenting interpretive and other educational programs on cultural and environmental topics.   At present we have 28 sworn law enforcement officer positions within our department.   

Hours: Full Time

Salary: SALARY PARK POLICE OFFICER I

Starting pay is $22.35 an hour or $46,488.00 annually.  There are opportunities for additional over-time and shift differential pay.   Uniforms and firearms are provided.  The Johnson County Park and Recreation District offers excellent insurance programs and other benefits.   


Qualifications: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

United States citizenship
Minimum 21 years of age
Able to pass a thorough background investigation, including state and national fingerprint checks
No felony convictions
No domestic violence convictions, diversions, or expungements
High school diploma or equivalent
Good moral character 
Complete a psychological evaluation 
Be free of any physical or mental condition that might adversely affect the performance of a police officer’s duties
