The City of Kiowa, Kansas, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Police Officer. Our Mission is to provide the highest quality of police services to our citizens and visitors to Kiowa. The Police Officer performs a variety of routine and complex police work and must be able to work in close concert with the Barber County Attorney and Sheriff’s Office. This employee must excellent communications, organizational, reasoning and public relations skills. The employee in this position enforces all federal, state and local laws in accordance with departmental rules and regulations. Patrol duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance.
TYPE: Full Time
SALARY: Salary range is $31,000 - $38,000 depending on qualifications/experience. The position is FLSA exempt and reports to the Chief of Police. City benefit package consists of paid family health insurance (City pays the first $1,000 of the deductible), retirement, life insurance, vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have demonstrated leadership experience, tactical competence and proven work ethic. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent and be at least 21 years of age. Kansas KLETC certified is preferred. Prior law enforcement experience is preferred but not required. The successful applicant must complete a background check, psychological evaluation, medical exam, drug screen and pass the interview process. Job requires living in the City limits.
