Dispatcher, Lane County Sheriff's Office

The Lane County Sheriff Office is seeking a Full-time Night Dispatcher. Dighton is centrally located in Lane County and Healy is in the Northwestern corner of the county. Lane County is 2 hours away from the Colorado border. The Department is staffed with 5 full time officers with part time deputies. We are the only Law Enforcement in the entire county. We serve approximately 1,700 citizens. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a Full-Time dispatcher.  We are seeking a person with excellent interpersonal communication skills and are able to function calmly and effectively under severe stress.  As a Dispatcher you will help direct officers to locations in need of assistance, help the general public in times of crisis and other dispatching duties.  Work will be performed in accordance with the established policies, rules, regulations, guidelines and practices of the department.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  Starting salary $12.50 hr


High School Diploma or GED required. Six to twelve months related experience or training is preferred. NCIC certification required within six months of employment, which is provided training by the department.

Ability to understand, write, and speak English, clearly and distinctly is required. Bi-lingual skills a plus. Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute without errors is required.

Felonies and drug convictions will automatically disqualify candidate.

Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six months of being awarded the position.

Ability to establish and to maintain effective working relationships with all employees, officials, and the public and to communicate effectively verbally or in writing is required.
