Master Evidence and Property Technician/Assistant Accreditation Manager, Ottawa Police Department

The City of Ottawa, Kansas is recruiting for a Master Evidence and Property Technician/Assistant Accreditation Manager.  The Master Evidence and Property Technician/Assistant Accreditation Manager will be responsible for accepting evidence and ensuring that it is properly packaged, logged, and secured in the Evidence Room. This employee is also responsible for maintaining chain of custody records, transporting evidence to and from the forensic laboratory for requested testing, and releasing or destroying evidence when it is no longer needed by the court(s). Prior to receiving a conditional offer of employment, the preferred applicant must undergo and pass a polygraph examination administered by the City of Ottawa.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  Grade 10 - $18.40 to $26.68

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

•High school diploma or equivalent; associate/technical degree preferred.
•Previous evidence, CALEA management or law enforcement experience preferred.
•Ability to obtain Certified Property and Evidence Specialist certification from the International Association for Property and Evidence within 1 year of hire.
•Pass CALEA Program Manager Certification course within 1 year of hire.
•Employee must have no felony convictions or integrity issues that would adversely affect care and custody of crime scene evidence, courtroom testimony, or confidence of the community.
•Must maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
