Police Officer, Pratt Police Department

The City of Pratt KS is currently taking applications for police officers to fill open positions within the department.  Pratt is a City of approximately 6,800 people located 70 miles west of Wichita KS.  We are a Police Department with fifteen (15) sworn officers and seven (7) support staff.  We are looking for motivated officers with good problem-solving skills.  Patrol duties include enforcing traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. City of Pratt Police Officers are required to exercise initiative and discretion while handling emergency conditions. City of Pratt Police Officers are required to work 12 hour rotating shifts, holidays, weekends and special events as assigned. The Pratt Police Department wants individuals with the ability to enforce all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances in a fair and just manner.  This work involves an element of personal danger and threat of life.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  Non-Certified Officers will start at $18.35 /hr. Certified Officers will start between $19.41/hr to $22.50/hr depending on experience and qualifications. Non-Certified Officers who are hired will be required to complete KLETC Academy training within a year of hire date. Salary for Non-Certified will be raised to the Certified rate when certified at completion of academy.

Prior law enforcement experience and KLETC or recognized certification from another state is preferred but not required.

Education: High School diploma or GED. Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Applicants must be 21 years of age.
Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check with no felony or major misdemeanor convictions.

Upon conditional offer of employment must be able to pass a drug screen and a physical.
