Police Officer, Rose Hill Police Department

The Rose Hill Police Department is seeking a highly qualified, motivated individual to join our team of ethical, hard working law enforcement professionals.  Work involves protecting and serving the citizens of Rose Hill by enforcing all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.  This position works under the general supervision of the Police Chief and other supervisory personnel.  This is a non-exempt position under FLSA.

 

The Rose Hill Police Department operates under three divisions: Field Services Division, Investigations/Community Services Division and Support Services Division.  Staffing includes eight full-time commissioned police officers (One Vacant), one part-time commissioned police officer, one Police/Court Clerk and three Reserve Officers.  Our police department strongly emphasizes a community policing philosophy and are committed to providing quality law enforcement services.  The Rose Hill Police Department serves a population of approximately 4,000 residents.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  The City of Rose Hill offers great benefits including health insurance, KPERS, paid time off and holidays.  Residency is not required for this position. 

Rate of pay: $36,192 - $46,525 - Starting salary based on certification and years of experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

A minimum of one year of law enforcement experience is required.  Must currently be state certified as a law enforcement officer with preference given to Kansas certifications.  The Police Department has a community policing philosophy and qualified candidates are required to achieve and/or maintain various certifications required for the position of police officer. This position requires 40 hours of in-service training annually.

 

Applicants must be a United States Citizen at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent and have no felony or domestic violence convictions.          Must be in good physical and mental health with no disqualifying criminal history.  Must possess a valid driver's license and be of good moral character.    

 

Successful candidates must pass an oral interview, psychological examination, medical examination, polygraph examination and criminal history background check. Work schedule requires a varied work schedule including weekends, holidays, overtime and court appearances
