The City of Smith Center Police Department is currently accepting applications for a Police Officer. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, patrol work, assisting with the prevention of crime and enforcement of traffic laws and regulations, report preparation, making arrests, and issuing citations.
Hours: Full Time
Qualifications: Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age. In addition, applicants must possess a valid drivers' license and the ability to achieve basic law enforcement certification by the State of Kansas within one year of appointment, if not currently certified. Applicants will be subject to written and physical agility tests, a thorough background check, and various other pre-employment testing. Applicants must not have any Brady/Giglio material in their background that would make them ineligible for hiring. Shift schedules will include some weekends, holidays, overtime and court appearances.
