The city of St. John, KS, pop. 1250, is seeking qualified applicants with an un-compromising commitment to integrity, character, compassion, community, and selflessness for the position of full time Patrol Officer. Interested applicants must be willing to work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as required on-call time. Officers are provided the best of equipment including all uniforms and duty gear, body armor, advanced load-out body armor and medical equipment for active shooter/high threat incidents, laptop computer, cell phone, and up to date patrol vehicles with wi-fi. Boots are not provided as part of the uniform.
Although we issue a Class A uniform, Officers currently enjoy a relaxed BDU style uniform with external body armor carrier that is worn the majority of the time.
Our Police Department has a long standing tradition of excellence and is recognized is the State of Kansas as a leader among Departments of similar size. We currently have an authorized strength of 4 full time Officers, with the possibility of adding part-time Officers in the near future. Our current staff of 3 full time Officers and 1 part-time Officer has a combined 52 years of Law Enforcement Experience. Along with the best in equipment, we also provide our Officers the opportunity to seek advanced level training and personal / professional development. The opportunity for promotion to Master Patrolman is available after 3 years of service with our Department if requirements for promotion are met.

$14.00/hr non-certified, $20 per pay period uniform maintenance, on-call time paid $40 per pay period up to 20 hours, $80 per pay period up to 40 hours, and $2/hr above 40 hours.certified officer pay commensurate with experience.
High School diploma or GED, must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, have a valid Kansas drivers license or the ability to attain on at time of employment, have NO criminal record or Brady/Giglio issues.Candidates will be required to pass a physical exam, drug screen, psychological exam, and possibly a written exam.
