Police Officer, WaKeeney Police Department

The City of WaKeeney is hiring a full-time police officer.  The position requires a self-motivated individual with the ability to work with surrounding agencies. This position enforces all federal, state, local laws and ordinances, performs patrol duties, enforces traffic laws, and investigates crimes and accidents.  Certified officers will be given preference, however basic academy (KLETC) will be provided. This employee should possess communication skills, public relations, and organizational skills.  The city's benefits package including KPERS retirement, paid vacation/sick leave and paid holidays. SALARY:  Non- Certified $15.00 / Certified $17.50

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, no felony convictions or domestic violence convictions.  No disqualifying criminal history, and possess a valid driver's license.  Successful candidates must pass an oral interview, psychological examination, Medical examination, and criminal history background check.  Work schedule requires weekend, holiday, overtime, and court appearances.  The City of WaKeeney provides 24 hr. coverage.
