Chief of University Police, Wichita State University Police Department

The Chief of University Police will serve as the face and spokesperson of the University for all law enforcement related issues. The Chief will maintain a high degree of visibility and will represent the 47 person department in the local community and serve a central role in establishing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with university constituents and local, regional, state and federal public safety agencies. The Chief plans, organizes, directs and administers the overall police initiatives of the campus community. The Chief supervises the sworn officers, dispatchers, parking enforcement and administrative staff; manages recruitment and training of staff; oversees parking enforcement, details and special events; develops and implements effective crime prevention strategies including a comprehensive community oriented policing program; oversees investigations; and manages the daily operations of the university police department. This position includes administrative responsibilities for the department’s budget, timely and accurate reporting in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and higher education guidelines including monthly criminal and conduct statistics, crime reports, and the annual DOE/Clery Act report..

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  $70,000 to $100,000 depending on experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

* Bachelors Degree in law enforcement or related field
*10 years law enforcement experience with progressive supervisory experience
