The Kingman County Sheriff's Office has an opening for a Full-time Sheriff Deputy. Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and a United States citizen who has never been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
Applicants with current certification, KLETC, or equivalent are preferred. Starting wage is $17.61 per hour, for non-certified. $18.11 with KLETC certification. Position requires working 8-hour shifts. Uniforms, take-home vehicle, and equipment are provided, paid holidays, KEPRS retirement, and health insurance. The position will remain open until filled.
Kingman County Sheriff’s Office is located just west of Sedgwick County on US 54. We are a small community with strong family values and great schools. Small town but we have the conveniences of the big city with Wichita being only 30 minutes drive.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; patrol work, responding to emergency calls, dispatched calls, conducting investigations, interviewing, gathering evidence, serving warrants, civil process, enforcing traffic laws, enforcing federal and state laws, preparing reports, and the ability to work with the general public. Deputy in this position must be able to act without direct supervision and exercise independent judgment in handling emergencies.
Pay: Every two weeks, overtime after 80 hours in the two weeks pay period. On-call pay.

Vacation: First year of service, 10 working days
Five years of service, 12 working days
Ten years of service, 15 working days
Fifteen years of service, 17 working days.
Twenty years of service, 20 working days.
Sick Leave: Accumulate sick leave at the rate of 1-Day (8 Hours)
Holidays: 12 Paid Holidays for 2021
Uniforms: Uniforms and duty equipment furnished
Bonus: $1,500 Retention Bonus
Must have a valid Kansas Driver's license or be able to obtain one before employment. Applicants will also be required to pass a medical physical, UA testing, background investigation. Applicants must meet KLETC academy qualifications. Must be a resident of Kingman County within 90 days of hire.
