The Sterling Police Department has 3 part time employment vacancies for a part time police officer position. The City of Sterling is a progressive community located approximately 20 miles from Hutchinson Kansas in Rice County Kansas. The City of Sterling has excellent schools and some of the most beautiful city parks in this area of Kansas. Serving a population of approximately 2200 residents the Sterling Police Department has 5 full time officers including the Chief of Police and 5 part time officers. The Sterling Police Department is responsible for enforcing all Federal, State and Local laws, along with all city code enforcement as well as investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic accidents and assisting the public. 

Type- Part time 

Salary- Starting $17.50 

Minimum Qualifications 

The successful candidate must be a resident of the State of Kansas. Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalency. KLETC certification preferred, but not required. Valid Kansas Drivers License or ability to obtain. Above average computer skills. All Kansas Commission on Peace Officers certification and employment requirements apply. No Brady/Giglio issues. Successful candidates must pass oral interview, psychological testing, criminal history background check. Work schedule requires shift work including weekends, holidays and court appearances. Sterling Police Department Officers are expected to work with minimal supervision and self-initiate on all work tasks identified by supervisory personnel as priorities for this job position and perform all paperwork tasks in a timely manner. If not certified candidate must attend Part-Time Academy at KLETC.
