The city of Ulysses is seeking conscientious, motivated applications for the position of Police Officer.

Duties and responsibilities include; but are not limited to; patrol, responding to emergency calls, responding to calls for service, investigating crimes as well as accidents, interviewing suspect, enforcing local, state and federal laws, and testifying in court.

The Ulysses Police Department is a modern, well equipped agency that serves a population of approximately 6,000.

Starting salary of $38,000 per year for noncertified applicants.  Lateral applicant salary will be based on prior experience.  Benefits include health insurance, KPERs and supplemental retirement, paid holidays, accumulated vacation and sick leave.  The Police Department provides all duty equipment as well as take home vehicles.  Officers work a rotting schedule of 12 hours shifts, which allow for every other weekend off.

Minimum requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalent.  21 years of age.  U.S. Citizen. Valid driver’s license.  No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
