The Louisburg Police Department is currently searching for qualified individuals to  fill full-time Police Officer positions. The city of Louisburg is located 18 miles south  of Overland Park, Kansas and the Greater Kansas City Metro Area. The City of  Louisburg has a population of 5,000 and maintains a Home-Town USA  characteristic and atmosphere about it, where neighbors help neighbors, and the  community’s members and stakeholders all work together for the city’s common  good. Louisburg is a community that strongly supports its First Responders and  appreciates their service.  

The Louisburg Police Department consists of 13 full-time sworn officers and 3civilian employees. Those selected to fill the positions will be responsible for  enforcing local, state, and federal laws, investigating crimes, enforcing traffic  

regulations, investigating traffic crashes, assisting the public, and serving in an  agency that takes great pride in serving and protecting its community. State  certified officers are preferred but not required. 

Salary: 

Non-Certified: $23.16 hourly, ($48,172 annually) with a pay increase upon  certification.  

Certified Police Officer: Minimum starting wage $24.10 hourly, ($50,128 annually). 

Current open positions qualify for a $5,000 Employment Hiring Bonus with a Two  Year Service Commitment. 

Possible pay considerations include, but not limited to: prior law enforcement  experience, law enforcement instructor certification(s), law enforcement  supervision or leadership experience, bilingual, etc… 

Other provided benefits include: paid sick, vacation, personal leave, and holidays,  furnished uniforms and equipment, paid employee and family health, dental, and  vision plans (City pays 100% of employee’s and 50% of family coverage), and  provides Kansas Police & Fire (KP&F) retirement for full-time officers. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire, must possess a valid  driver’s license, must be in good physical condition, have no felony, serious  misdemeanor, or domestic violence convictions, be a US citizen, possess a high 

school diploma or GED, and must be able to pass a background investigation,  physical exam, physical fitness assessment, psychological evaluation, and any  additional requested testing.
