The Peabody Police Department has a full time employment vacancy for the Chief of Police position. The City of Peabody is a progressive community located approximately 45 miles northeast of Wichita in southwest Marion County, Kansas, The City of Peabody has excellent schools and some of the most beautiful city parks in this area of Kansas. Serving a population of approximately 1,000 residents the Peabody Police Department has 2 full time officers including the Chief of Police. The Peabody Police Department is reasonable for enforcing all Federal,State and Local laws, along with all city code enforcement as well as investigating crimes, enforcing traffic regulations, investigating traffic accidents and assisting the public.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must be a resident of the State of Kansas. Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalency. KLETC certification required. Valid Kansas Driver’s License or ability to obtain. Above average computer skills. All Kansas Commission on Peace Officers certification and employment requirements apply. No Brady/Giglio issues. Successful candidates must pass oral interview, psychological testing. drug/alcohol screening, criminal history background check and additional job-related testing. Work schedule requires shift work including weekends, holidays and court appearances. Peabody Police Department Officers are expected to work with minimal supervision and self-initiate on all work tasks identified by supervisory personnel as priorities for this job position and perform all paperwork tasks in a timely manner.
