Wellington, the County Seat for Sumner County, Kansas, is known as the “Wheat Capital of the World”, located in south central Kansas approximately 20 miles north of the Kansas/Oklahoma borders. Wellington is the largest city in Sumner County.

As a Wellington Police Officer, you must be a person of honor, integrity, possess strong communication skills, and be able to render sound decisions under pressure. Most of all, you must be committed to public service, which includes participating in community service events/activities, assisting our citizens, and investigating/solving crimes.
Salary Range: $17.09-$26.20 DOQ
Qualifications: Minimum qualification includes, high school or GED diploma, 21 years of age at time of appointment, no Felony, domestic violence or serious misdemeanor offenses. Selection process includes a written test, oral board interview, and psychological examination. Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and physical. The applicant must live within 20 minutes of the city limits of Wellington. Current certified law enforcement officer preferred, but not required.
