Wellington, the County Seat for Sumner County, Kansas, is known as the “Wheat Capital of the World”, located in south central Kansas approximately 20 miles north of the Kansas/Oklahoma borders. Wellington is the largest city in Sumner County.
USD 353 is a public unified school district headquartered in Wellington that includes communities of Wellington, Mayfield, Perth, Riverdale, Rome and rural parts of Sumner County. The districts operate six school facilities; High School, Jr High and four elementary schools. USD serves approximately 1500 K-12 students.
As a Wellington School Resource Officer, you must be a person of honor, integrity, possess strong communication skills, and be able to render sound decisions under pressure. Your daily duties will include interaction with both students, faculty and visitors of USD 353.
Salary Range: $17.90-27.41 DOQ
Qualifications: Minimum qualification includes, current Law Enforcement certification, 3-4 years of experience as a certified police officer, School Resource Officer certification as well as DARE certification preferred, but not required. Depending on qualifications, the selection process may include a written test, oral board interview, and psychological examination. Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen and physical. The applicant must live within 20 minutes of the city limits of Wellington.
