The City of Fredonia is accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer. Successful candidates will be professional and motivated, with strong moral character and an interest in protecting and serving the 2,111 residents of Fredonia. Candidates should possess a community-oriented mindset and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The hiring salary range is $15.00 - $19.23/hr; the actual rate is determined by experience. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid Kansas Driver's License, and be able to pass a background check. Candidates should be self-motivated, community-oriented, able to work with limited supervision, and have the highest level of integrity. High School Diploma or GED required. Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and psychological exam. Basic typing skills are required.

One year of law enforcement experience is preferred, but not required. Graduation from a Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center or reciprocating training center is also preferred. The City of Fredonia will pay for attendance at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center if you are not already certified. Upon completion, you will receive the opportunity for further advanced training as you progress in your career.

 Job Type: Full-time 12 hour work shifts

 Salary: $32,760.00 - $41,998.00 per year

A college degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred, and State Law Enforcement Certification is preferred but not required. Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The City provides sick leave, paid vacation, 10 paid holidays,  Blue Cross/Blue Shield health and dental insurance for employees, with a supplemental insurance provided by the city to offset cost and reasonable rates for family, KPERS, and uniforms.
