The Eudora Police Department is seeking motivated persons to join our department!
The City of Eudora, KS with a population of 6,600 is seeking responsible applicants for a full time Police Officer position. Candidates must be able to pass drug & physical screenings, background check & psychological testing, have valid Kansas driver's license, and high school degree or GED is required. Kansas Law Enforcement Certificate required but will train the right person.
Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
- -Protect the life and property of citizens
- On an assigned shift, operates patrol vehicle or specialized police equipment or walks to observe for violations of traffic laws, suspicious activities or persons and disturbance of law and order, maintains visible police presence throughout the community.
- Interviews victims and witnesses to obtain additional information regarding crime, accidents, violations, etc.
- Investigates crimes, collects evidence, and conducts searches.
- Responds to radio dispatches and answers calls and complaints, serves warrants, summons, completes arrest records and investigates licenses.
- Enforces traffic laws, investigates accidents, issues traffic citations and provides medical assistance.
- Provides police escorts, direct traffic, perform residential and commercial business checks.
- Participate in a variety of in-service and special training programs.
- May be assigned to collateral duty assignments such as School Resource Officer, Detective, Drug Task Force, etc.
- Conducts Department outreach and education programs to the public.
- Provides animal control services.
- Provides security at special events.
Selection process includes an oral board interview, extensive background check, drug screen, physical and psychological testing.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school or GED diploma.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- 21 years of age at time of appointment.
- KLETC certified officers preferred, but not required. We will train the right person.
- No felony, domestic violence or serious misdemeanor offenses.
- Possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.
