Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Corrections Officer for immediate openings. Must be 18 years of age, high school diploma or GED. No felony convictions. No serious misdemeanors or domestic violence offenses. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays. 

The Ottawa County Jail is a 62-bed facility located in Minneapolis, KS. In addition to housing local inmates, the Ottawa County Jail also provides contract inmate housing for Saline and Sedgwick counties. The Corrections Officer is responsible for the daily management of inmates by both direct and closed-circuit surveillance supervision, while maintaining safety and security therein. Duties include but are not limited to; documenting and maintaining records of inmate activities, addressing inmate requests, performing security checks, identifying, and responding to safety/ security concerns, conflict resolution, booking in and releasing of inmates, and transporting inmates to other facilities, court, and doctor appointments.

Starting wage is $17.00 per hour.  The county provides health and dental insurance free of charge for Employee plus children. No experience needed; will train the right candidate.
