Burlington Police Dept. is accepting applications for police officer. We are a stable, progressive department of 7 full time officers and 2 civilian support staff. We are responsible for 24/7 coverage of a city of about 3000 population. Small town living at its best. Burlington offers outstanding amenities, an excellent school system and convenient access to metro areas. We are about 1 hour south of Topeka, 45 minutes SW of Lawrence and the KC area is about a 90 minute drive.
This is a full time position. We work 12 hour shifts and are scheduled for 86 hours every 2 weeks, with payroll on a bi-weekly basis, 26 pay periods per year.
Take home (assigned car) program, all uniforms and equipment provided including patrol rifles. Excellent benefit package including KPERS, BC/BS health insurance (single), vacation, holiday pay, sick leave. Voluntary enrollment in the State of Kansas deferred compensation program (457) and a medical flex account is also available.
Salary DoQ. Experience counts. Salary ranges from $20.25 for entry level non certified applicants, up to $29.25 per hour. The city offers annual cost of living and merit based pay increases.
Minimum of 21 years of age. Clean record with no disqualifying convictions. No Brady/Giglio Disclosure Requirements. KLETC desired but not required. US Citizen, high school graduate, able to pass psychological and physical assessment. Applicants without certification will be required to attend KLETC within 1 year of employment. Lateral or out of state experience welcome and Kansas does offer reciprocity for qualified applicants.
