The City of Paola (5,600) is currently seeking a law enforcement professional to fill the critical and highly visible position of Police Chief. 

Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, Public Administration or related field and should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in law enforcement with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience. Additional years of work experience as a certified officer and at the supervisory level will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree. The candidate must satisfy all state requirements as set forth in the K.S.A.74-5605 “Qualifications of Applicant (Police Officer) for Training Course Requirements” or certification by reciprocity. The applicant must have a Kansas driver’s license or ability to obtain and their driving record must meet commercial liability insurance requirements.

The salary range for this position is $67,496.00 to $103,500.80 with an excellent benefits package. Starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. 

Candidates will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate, and/or failure to report information will cause applicant rejection from consideration. Successful candidate must take and pass a pre-employment drug screen, psychological examination, physical examination and polygraph. The successful candidate will have 6 months to establish a permanent residence within a 30 minute response time from the Paola Police Department.
