The City of Hiawatha is located in Northeast Kansas and our population is approximately 3,200 residents. Known as the City of Maples with excellent schools, outdoor activities, and a place where neighbors truly look out for one another. Our police department is staffed by one records clerk, one court clerk, and ten full-time certified Police Officers. One patrol officer serves as the school resource officer for the USD 415 School District. We also have the only digital forensics laboratory in NE Kansas and two officers split their time doing patrol, responding to calls, investigating crimes as well as assisting outside agencies in processing devices, and providing technical assistance in criminal investigations. The Hiawatha Police Department is a community-oriented police department and it is an honor to serve as a Police Officer. We are citizens who have chosen to serve everyone who lives and visits here.
