The Woodson County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to fill the role of Deputy Sheriff. This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected law enforcement agency in one of the most beautiful and diverse counties in Kansas.


About Woodson County:

  • Location: Southeastern Kansas

  • Population: Approximately 3,200 residents

  • Area: 500 square miles; massive amounts of hunting and fishing locations

  • Landscape: Diverse, featuring rolling hills and prairies


Job Responsibilities:

As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for various law enforcement duties, including but not limited to:

  • Patrolling the county

  • Responding to emergency calls

  • Conducting investigations

  • Collaborating with other agencies to solve crimes

  • Upholding department values of integrity, professionalism, and community service


Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum age of 21 years

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Meet physical requirements of the job

  • A college degree in criminal justice or a related field is preferred but not required

  • KPERS retirement plan

  • Competitive pay:

    • $17.31 per hour for non-certified deputies

    • $19.31 per hour for certified deputies

  • Pay increase after a 90-day probation period
