HIAWATHA POLICE DEPARTMENT IS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER.

The City of Hiawatha is located in Northeast Kansas approximately 12 miles south of Falls City, NE and 40 miles east of St. Joseph, MO. Hiawatha is a progressive community with excellent schools and outdoor activities. The population is approximately 3,200. The department is staffed with 9 full-time officers, 3 part-time Officers, 1 Records Clerk and 1 part-time Clerk.

Type; Full Time

Salary: DOQ

Minimum Qualifications;

  • At least 21 years of age;
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • No felony convictions, diversion or expungements
  • No conviction for domestic battery 
  • Valid Kansas Drivers License
  • Good Moral Character
  • Must reside within 20 minutes of the city limits.
  • Ability to successfully complete all steps in the hiring process.
  • No Felony Convictions/No major misdemeanor convictions
