The City of Garden Plain is seeking applications for the position of police officer. We are a community of about 800 people, when fully staffed we have three officers including the chief. This position works 12 hour shifts on a 14 day rotating schedule including nights and weekends allowing for every other weekend off. 

Minimum qualifications require candidates to be a U.S. citizen, and a Kansas resident, 21 years of age at the time of appointment, possess a valid Kansas driver’s license, have a high school diploma or its equivalent and reside within 30 minutes of the city. The successful candidate will also have no felony or non- traffic misdemeanor convictions and no serious traffic convictions. Benefits include personal time, vacation time and 11 paid holidays a year. Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance which is paid for at 100% for the employee 75% for spouse and dependent coverage. Optional KPERS 457 Tax Deferred Retirement. Uniforms and weapons supplied. 

Starting salary for non-certified officers would be $32,240.00 after completing academy and field training salary would increase to $33,280.00. Minimum salary for certified officers would vary depending on qualifications
