The WaKeeney Police Department is hiring a full-time and part-time officer. The position requires a self-motivated individual with the ability to work with surrounding agencies and a diverse community. the position enforces all federal, state and local laws and ordinances, preforms patrol duties, enforces traffic laws, investigates crimes and accidents. Certified Officers will be given preference, however basic academy (KLETC) will be provided to those who are not certified. The applicant should possess strong communication skills both verbal and written. Pubic relations and organizational skills. Applicants must be 21 years of age and have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. No felony convictions, domestic violence convictions or class A misdemeanor convictions. No disqualifying criminal history and possess a valid driver's license. Successful candidates must pass an oral interview, psychological examination, Medical examination, and criminal history background check. Work schedule requires weekend, holiday, overtime, and court appearances. The City of WaKeeney provides 24 hr. coverage.
Salary: Full-time Certified $17.50/hr. Non-certified $15/hr. Until certified and passing probationary period. Salary is also based on qualifications.
Part-time is $15.00/hr
