The City of Silver Lake, KS is seeking a new Chief of Police. Under the direction of the governing body, the Police Chief is responsible for supervising the management of the law department, budget preparation, and resolving personnel issues and citizen concerns as well as working a regular shift on patrol. This employee is responsible for attending at least one of the city council meetings each month to present the monthly police department report containing information on the activities of the police department. The employee has a substantial amount of public contact. Work assignments are prescribed in the state statutes and city ordinances with additional activities assigned by the Governing Body. This employee should possess excellent supervisory, management, organizational, public relations, communication skills, and a valid driver’s license, as well as being self-motivated and task-oriented. Kansas Law Enforcement Certified preferred. Residency will be discussed during interview process.
