Under the direction of the Police Chief, the Police Officer position is responsible for performing duties in the protection of life and property and the preservation of order in the City of Silver Lake and resolving citizen concerns. This employee has a substantial amount of public contact as well as enforcing all duties, including traffic laws, investigation of crimes and accidents and providing public assistance. This employee is required to exercise initiative and discretion when faced with emergency conditions. Work assignments are prescribed in the state statutes and city ordinances are assigned by the Police Chief. The work involves an element of personal danger. High School Diploma or GED, Valid Driver’s License and Kansas Law Enforcement Certified preferred. Residency will be discussed during interview.
