The Trego County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants for a full-time position with the following job duties; Court Security, Jail Staff, Civil Process Server, and other Sheriff Deputy duties. Under the supervision of the Trego County Sheriff. This position will need to attend all in person court hearings and act as court security by operating the metal detector and ensuring the safety of all court officers and the public while court is in session. Duties will regularly include working in the jail, serving civil process paperwork and transporting inmates. Other duties may include patrolling county areas, criminal investigations, enforcing all state and local laws, securing compliance with traffic violations and making preliminary investigation at the scene of a crime or traffic accident. The employee in this position must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment in handling emergencies.  Trego County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

  • Thursday and Friday - OFF

  • Every Other Saturday and Sunday - 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

SALARY:  Salary is dependent on any previous law enforcement, court security, jail work or other qualifying experience and education in related field.  Benefits include fully paid single plan health insurance and affordable family health plans, KPERS retirement, and take-home patrol vehicle.


  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Must be able to pass psychological and physical screenings

  • Undergo applicable background checks

  • Kansas Driver’s License

  • 21 years of age

  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history

  • KLETC Certification is preferred but not required
