This is specialized work in the care, custody, and control of adult inmates in the custody of the Osage County Jail Facility.  Employee are responsible for protecting the well-being of inmates, overseeing of meals, escorting inmates to and from court, transporting inmates between secure facilities, booking and intake procedures of inmates, writing of reports concerning incidents happening in the jail facility and the overall supervision of inmates within and outside the facility.

Osage County participates in the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS).

Pay: $15.88 per hour

Hours: Currently Correctional Officers with the Osage County Sheriff’s Office work four (4) ten (10) hour shifts per week, with three (3) days off. Evenings, weekends, holidays are required. Overtime may be required.

Additional Information:
18 years of age at the time of employment. High School Diploma or GED required. One (1) to two (2) years related experience or training preferred but not required. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to perform at an acceptable level within six months of being awarded the position. employee may be exposed to dangerous situations.

The State of Kansas and Osage County are At-Will Employment jurisdictions.
