Conference Opening Speaker:  Adam LaRoche
Adam LaRoche is a former first baseman who played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily with the Atlanta Braves, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals. If you don’t know him from his baseball career, then you may recognize him from the Outdoor Channel show “Buck Commander,” where he stars with co-owners Willie Robertson, Ryan Langerhans, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean and Tombo Martin.
Since his retirement from baseball, Adam has been able to focus his attention on the things that he loves and is passionate about: God, his family, and the causes for which he seeks to actively advocate. Currently, that is done through his family’s E3 Foundation which supports two significant needs:

  1. The fight against sex-trafficking where Adam works directly with strategic organizations who empower law enforcement to hunt traffickers as well as liberating their victims
  2. Our combat veterans, first by identifying those in need, then hosting them at the LaRoche E3 ranch in Southeast, Kansas, for a variety of different activities including hunting, fishing and shooting competitions.

“It’s our mission to serve, and that comes directly from our Commander, Jesus. I have spent much of my life serving me, but Jesus calls us to be a light in a dark world. Whether it be going where no one else wants to go, defending those who can’t defend themselves or hosting and serving our nation’s warriors, I want to spend the rest of my life serving others.”

Adam and his wife Jennifer have two children, son Drake, and daughter Montana. They make their home outside of Fort Scott, Kansas.

Conference Keynote Speaker:  Todd Deghetto, Team Never Quit
Todd DeGhetto is a retired Navy Captain who spent 30 years in Naval Special Warfare (NSW) as a SEAL Officer. He has led at every level: Commander Naval Special Warfare Group THREE, Commanding Officer SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team ONE, Team Leader and Element Leader of a Tactical Development and Evaluation Team at Naval Special Warfare Development Group, Platoon Commander at SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team Two and Executive Officer at SEAL Team Eight.

Sedgwick County Goodpaster Homicide Case Study
In November 2016, a dispute over $185.00 in missing drug money led five people to torture and sexually assault a woman.  The woman blamed Scottie Goodpaster for the missing money and the attackers turned their attention on him torturing and killing the 33-year-old man at a home in Valley Center.  His mutilated body was dumped in rural Harvey County.

During the presentation, you will hear from:  the detectives and crime scene investigators who processed and investigated the case.

Franklin County Quadruple Homicide Case Study
The murders of four people shocked the small community of Ottawa, KS, in early May 2013.  On May 1, 2013, Kaylie Smith-Bailey and her daughter, Lana-Leigh (18 months old), went missing from Olathe, KS.  On May 6, 2013, deputies from the Franklin County Sheriffs office responded to a residence where they located the body of Steven White inside of an outbuilding on the property.  Once investigators were inside the residence, the bodies of Andrew Stout and Kailey Smith-Bailey were found.  A large, extensive search began for the missing 18-month-old, which ended with the discovery of her body in a creek (inside a suitcase) on May 11, 2013.

During the presentation, you will hear from:  the investigator that was assigned to the case, the crime scene investigators that processed the multiple crime scenes involved in the case, the bloodstain pattern analyst and prosecutor.
