Mexican Cartel Investigative Techniques: From Las Vegas to Mexico
The case study will discuss how a local Las Vegas case spanning from Vegas to Mexico. It will cover an 8-year investigation (2013-2020) that is still pending. We will go over the history of the cartel, and the dismantling of the cartel. We will discuss the violence, drug, and weapons trafficking, illegal activities, and corruption at the highest levels of the Mexican government. We will also discuss several other cartels in Mexico during the time of the investigation. The course will provide investigative techniques that led street-level buy programs into a complex multi-state and international cartel wire investigation.
This training program will cover the following topics:
INSTRUCTOR: Tim Beck is a 25-year retired Narcotics Detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. During his career, Tim was assigned to the Major Violator/Narcotics Crime Bureau, Narcotics Section and as a Narcotics Detective worked as the primary undercover on a street narcotics team. He was promoted and assigned as a Task Force Officer (TFO) with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The last year, before retiring, he was assigned to the newly formed Overdose Response Team which is responsible for investigating Fentanyl-related overdoses in Clark County, NV. Currently, Tim serves as the Executive Director of the Nevada Narcotic Officers Association (NNOA).
