From Data to Decisions: The Basics of Law Enforcement Intelligence

This 4-hour training will cover how information is compiled, analyzed, and/or disseminated to anticipate, prevent, or monitor criminal activity. The different forms of intelligence will be covered, how to obtain the information, and finally what to do with it.

Core Competencies:

• Participants will employ best practices as they investigate any crime from its beginning to its eventual disposition, either as an individual or as part of an investigatory team.

Course Objectives:

• Determine what is Criminal Intelligence, How to Get it, and What to do with it

• Learn about the history and legal considerations of Criminal Intelligence

• Discuss the four INTs of Intelligence

• Compare Internal and External Collection resources

• Determine what to do with Criminal Intelligence

• Learn about riding the Intelligence cycle

• Discuss the levels of intelligence
