- Wednesday – October 8th, 1400-2200 (Night ride)

Bike and Required equipment in proper riding and working order must be provided on each day. It will be checked by instructors.
Mandatory Riding Equipment:
- PROPERLY fitted Mountain Bike - Police Department Issued
- Helmet (Properly Sized)
- Toe Restraints (clips, clip less, power grips, flat pedal w/proper shoe)
- Eye Protection
- Gloves (fingered or fingerless)
- Duty Gear (Weapon and all equipment department expects officer to be equipped with)
- Bike Rack with Bag
- Night Ride (Wed Night) - White light facing forward, minimum 42 lumens.
- Rear red reflector or red LED flashing light.
Description:
Bicycle officers need to ride whenever and wherever they are needed. Proper training is essential to an officer's on-the-job performance and safety. It is also critical in reducing liability. The PC course provides bicycle officers with the skills they need to effectively serve their communities. This demanding class involves over 20 hours of on-bike time to develop and improve riding skills. Bike specific firearms will be added to this course.
Course Length: 40 hours
Required Equipment:
- Duty Bicycle- Reputable manufacturer mountain bike in good working order, properly fitted, street combination tires, pedal retention devices, water bottle cage, headlight (42 lumens measured at 10ft), LED red taillight, rear mount kick stand, rear rack with full size bag,
- Duty Equipment- Duty belt, firearm, magazine, baton, handcuffs, cuff key, flashlight,
- Range Equipment- 100 rounds ammo, foam ear protection (must fit under helmet), eye protection,
- Tools- patch kit, tire levers, two spare tubes, compact tire pump or CO2,
- Safety Equipment- eye protection (night and day), bicycle helmet (ANSI, Snell or CPSC approved), padded cycling gloves, body armor protective vest,
- Attire- Full bike duty uniform, foul weather gear,
- Other- pencil / pen, notebook, sunscreen, bug spray, physical activity readiness questionnaire (PAR-Q) required and medical clearance sheet (if indicated by PAR-Q
Testing Procedure: written & on-bike
Requirements: Applicants must be police officers currently assigned to bike patrol, officers applying to become members of a bike unit, or members of a department considering use of the bicycle.
Certification: IPMBA Certification is to sworn police officers who successfully complete the practical test, earn a score of 76% or better on the written test, membership to IPMBA, IPMBA pin and The Complete Guide to Public Safety Cycling provided.
