Two New Statutes Now in Effect; Property Tax Bill Vetoed

Two new statutes are now in effect:

Alcohol Sales During Period of FIFA World Cup Events HB2481 Effective 2/26/2026 through 6/20/26

2026 Security at Extraordinary Event: Related to FIFA World Cup Events HB2212 Effective 4/9/2026 through 7/1/27 

Amended Statute now in effect:

K.S.A. 21-6811 Sentencing: Scoring Prior Offenses: Comparability of Prior Violation Effective 4/16/26
Subsection (a)(4) added; and subsection (i) amended by adding last sentence in the subsection.

The Governor vetoed the latest Property Tax bill, HB2043. This is the bill that was concerning to local governments funding. There is no opportunity to override the veto.

The Governor signed the bill adding Kratom to schedule I drugs, SB430. Amendments to add 7-OH was included in HB2365 was signed into law earlier.
