Brent Cartwright (Ret.) dedicated 16 years of service as a police officer in Kansas City, with more than a decade as an undercover detective. He is a recognized expert witness involving narcotics trafficking within the United States Criminal Courts. Brent retired from law enforcement after being shot multiple times during an undercover operation to capture a wanted homicide suspect while assigned to an ATF Task Force.
Throughout his tenure as an undercover operative, Brent played the critical role in his squad of purchasing drugs and firearms on the streets of one of the most violent cities in America. As his work progressed, the boundary between Brent’s authentic self and his undercover personal became increasingly blurred, consumed by his relentless commitment to the job at the expense of his personal wellbeing.
Brent openly discusses his journey and details the risks of immersing himself in his profession, leading to a profound transformation and negatively reshaping his identity in the very streets he sought to clean up.
Brent is a captivating storyteller who communicates his message through accounts of the multiple life-endangering incidents he endured. Through these experiences, he illuminates the impact of cumulative stressors and the consequences of becoming totally devoted to one’s career. The series of events that nearly claimed Brent's life ultimately saved it, leaving him with a profound sense of purpose and direction.
Brent is a veteran of over 10 years with the US Army. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Missouri. Brent serves as a Program Advisor with Runestone Ranch in Livermore, CA which seeks to empower first responders on their journey to transform their traumas into hope. He also volunteers as Peer Support with West Coast Post Trauma Retreat for first responders in Napa Valley, CA.

- Lou Savelli, a retired NYPD Sergeant co-founded and supervised the NYPD Terrorism Interdiction Unit (TIU) after the terror attacks of September 11th, 2001. He was injured at ground zero during his response and duty in the rescue and recovery effort. He will discuss and show how local law enforcement has the best ability to identify, preempt and interdict a terrorist attack in their own jurisdiction and, often, other regions of the US. He will discuss effective tactics, problems faced, and how to overcome the lack of intelligence sharing still plaguing the law enforcement community at large, today. He will expose the 10 Signs of a Terrorist Attack, the Radicalization process leading to terrorist recruitment, the role of jails and prisons in radicalization and recruitment for terror organizations (domestic and foreign), and the importance and tactics of seeking out your own intelligence and cultivation of informants. He will expose how billions, if not trillions, of US dollars have been and are still funneled, every year, overseas into the hands of terrorists to be used against the US at home and abroad. He will, however, stress inter-agency cooperation, intelligence sharing, and professionalism.
