KPOA Firearms Competition Rules and Course of Fire
Revised 2024

There are four divisions in the KPOA Shooting event.

  • Law Enforcement Stock
  • Law Enforcement Carry Optics
  • Civilian Stock
  • Civilian Carry Optics.  The rules and procedures for Carry Optics division are the same the Pistol Match, except for the sights.  Electronic Optics with no magnification are allowed.

The KPOA Pistol Match is an all Steel, 3 stage course and consists of three different stages, Speed Plates, Speed Pyramid, and Line of Steel.  These stages not only stress speed and accuracy, but also give the competitors experience in engaging multiple targets at varied sizes and distances.

All four divisions shoot the same courses of fire with the same rules. At the end of the match the top Civilian shooter and the top Law Enforcement shooter will compete in a head to head shoot off to determine the best overall shooter and win the Old Masters Award.

Team Competition

  • Teams may be formed from 3 competitors of the same division.
  • The team registration form must be completed during the match registration.
  • Team members will compete as individuals, with their final total times of all three (3) pistol events being added together as their team time.

The shotgun match is a single stage event consisting of 17 total targets, 13 steel and 4 clay pigeons.  The course is fired from a stationary shooting position with no movement required.
