Under the direction of the Chief of Police, the Police Officer is responsible for maintain order, enforcing federal, state and local laws and ordinances, and protecting life and property within the city. The Police Officer patrols the City in patrol vehicles and on foot to prevent violence or infraction of applicable laws; issues traffic summons, investigates accidents, apprehends and arrests suspects. The Police Officer searches for, collects, identifies evidence at crime sense, examines/compiles information for cases, arrests violators of laws and ordinances, investigates and intervenes in domestic disputes, guards/transports prisoners, conducts interviews, answers citizen complaints and takes necessary corrective action, assists other law enforcement agencies, directs traffic as necessary and other duties as assigned.
The employee is expected to have a high school diploma or equivalent, a current driver’s license with a good driving record; applicants must be 21 years of age. KLETC certification and prior law enforcement experience preferred but not needed at time of application.
Take home cars (If residing within city limits or within 3 miles of city limits)
Starting pay $17.00 an hour plus benefits of health, dental and eye coverage
If applicant has experience starting pay is negotiable.
