Ness County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our law enforcement team. As a Sheriff’s Deputy, you will play a crucial role in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and protecting the community we serve. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our county and uphold the principles of justice and integrity. 

To qualify for the position the following you will need to have/be able to:

• A Valid Kansas driver’s license, or be able to obtain one prior to employment 

• Be 21 years of age

• A United States citizen, who has never been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. 

• Be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation 

• Be able to pass a drug testing, pre-employment physical, and psychological testing. 

• Must live in our wonderful county of Ness County, KS or move here within 6 months of employment

Essential Functions of our Sheriff’s Office include but not limited to the following: 

• Keeping and preserving the peace in our wonderful county and suppress all riots and unlawful assemblies

• Enforce the laws of the State of Kansas

• Serve Court documents for civil and criminal proceedings

• Transport prisoners

• Aid the public daily

• Enforce traffic laws and assist stranded motorists. Remember “Click It or Ticket It”

• Attends and completes all training requirements as required by KSCPOST

• All other duties as required by our favorite Sheriff

Pay varies! Uncertified Deputies will start out at $17.71 per hour. Certified Deputies starting pay is $18.16 per hour with lateral eligibility with years of service. $500 per month on call pay for certified Deputies. Other benefits include KPERS, Health Insurance, Vision, Dental, take-home vehicle, holiday pay, and more!
