The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is looking for a motivated individual to fill full time Criminal Interdiction Deputy position. Hamilton County is located in Southwest Kansas on the border of Colorado and is mostly a rural community. The population is approximately 2400.

The chosen candidate will be a positive, self-starter, team motivated, and approachable individual who demonstrates a high level of integrity, morals, and can work effectively with others to continuously improve operations and public relations within the community. The person will provide public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws. The mission of a criminal interdiction deputy is to identify, apprehend and successfully prosecute professional and career criminals traveling on highways within our county. These deputies will investigate crimes involving human trafficking, illegal drugs, illegal firearms, currency, and stolen property. 

Salary

  • $18.00 / hr for non-certified deputies

Minimum Requirements

  • Candidates shall not have any Felony, Domestic Violence, or serious misdemeanor convictions, and/or other criminal or civil legal action pending.
  • Be of good moral character
  • No Brady/Giglio issues
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must pass a background check and Interviews

This position involves enforcing laws, prosecuting violators and assisting victims of crime. The successful candidate will be well versed in various law enforcement procedures and able to work independently with minimal supervision. A Deputy Sheriff must be a highly driven, resourceful individual who has a commitment to helping others.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule: 12 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate: Syracuse, KS 67878: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
