ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSITION OF FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER 

The City of Hiawatha is located in Northeast Kansas and our population is approximately 3,200  residents. Known as the City of Maples with excellent schools, outdoor activities, and a place  where neighbors truly look out for one another. Our police department is staffed by one records  clerk, one court clerk, and ten full-time certified Police Officers. One patrol officer serves as the  school resource officer for the USD 415 School District. We also have the only digital forensics  laboratory in NE Kansas. The Hiawatha Police Department is a community-oriented police  department and it is an honor to serve as a Police Officer. We are citizens who have chosen to  serve everyone who lives and visits here. The goal each day is to keep Hiawatha, Kansas a  beautiful and safe place to live and raise a family.  

TYPE: Full Time Patrol Officer SALARY: DOE 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 21 Years of Age or Older 
  • Possess High School Diploma or GED • No Felony Convictions Expungements or  Diversions 
  • No Domestic Battery Convictions 
  • No Criminal History or Improper Conduct  That May Affect Suitability for Performing  Police Work 
  • Must Pass Drug Screen & Psychological  Evaluation 

APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE AT: 

  • Possess Valid Driver’s License & A Kansas  License Within 6 Months 
  • Pass Background Investigation 
  • Pass Physical Examination 
  • Reside Within Brown County, Kansas or a  Contiguous Kansas County Within 6 Months of Employment 
  • Complete All Steps of the Hiring Process
  • Be of Good Moral Character
