The City of Fredonia, Kansas is currently accepting applications for Full Time Police Officer. The police department works 12-hour shifts (84 hours per pay period), with every other weekend scheduled off. Police Officers may be required to work holidays, nights and weekends as assigned. The Fredonia Police Department is family oriented and can be flexible with personal scheduling conflicts if the required hours are met within the pay period and staffing permits. Once certified, officers will be afforded the opportunity to attend specialized training that serves within the interest of the department.

Fredonia is a city of approximately 2,100 people located in southeast Kansas, approximately 90 miles from four major metropolitan areas.

SALARY: Entry level Police Officers can start at approximately $14.00/hr. with raises after graduation from KLETC and a 90-day post academy probation period.

Starting salary for Lateral entry Police Officers is between $17.00-$19.90 per hour based upon experience and qualifications. Out of state officers will be required to attend 40-hour reciprocity training within the first year of employment.

The City of Fredonia provides the following benefits for full-time employees:

KPERS Retirement Program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: No previous experience necessary.

Must have or be able to graduate KLETC within one (1) year of employment.

Education: High School diploma or GED. Possession of a valid driver’s

license is mandatory.

Applicants must be 21 years of age.

Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check with no felony

or major misdemeanor convictions.

Applicants must be able to communicate proficiently.

Applicants must be able to pass a drug screen.

Applicants must pass a physical exam.

Applicants must be of good moral character sufficient to warrant the public trust as a police officer or law enforcement officer. No Brady/Giglio Disclosure Requirements.
