This is a manager level position designed to provide supervision and oversight to the security operations of the El Dorado Correctional Facility and satellite units. Primary responsibilities involve ensuring the Security Department is in compliance with agency IMPPs and facility general orders, ensuring the use and implementation of evidence-based practices in working with offenders, data collection and analysis, quality assurance, and implementation of programs and services as directed by the Warden and Deputy Warden.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Plans, organizes and directs security operations for the El Dorado Correctional Facility and provides oversight of security operations to the Oswego Correctional Facility. Directs supervision of the Security Department, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Inspects and evaluates the physical plant to ensure the highest possible level of security.
- Supervises the preparation of post assignments and schedules for Security personnel. Makes recommendations to the Warden and Deputy Warden concerning post analysis and various options that are proposed. Ensures the facility operational staffing plan is accurate, up to date, and adhered to. Responsible for the timely evaluation, development and review of facility post orders. Ensures all post orders are reviewed and renewed annually. Assists in the review and development of facility policy and general orders, providing information and developing procedures in order to facilitate the safe, ordered operation of the facility.
- Directs the systematic, routine and random shakedowns of offenders and facility grounds. Identifies problems, proposes recommendations, and supervises implementation of changes in security methods and procedures. Works with shift supervisors to ensure the consistent, appropriate enforcement of facility policies. Ensure that all security staff receive and understand necessary training and instruction.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, the behavioral sciences, or public administration. Three (3) years of experience in the field of corrections, including at least one year of supervisory and administrative/management experience (UTM/CSIII or above). Additional experience may be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency.

- Completion of 60 semester hours of coursework from an accredited college or university, including 12 hours in corrections, criminal justice, the social sciences or the behavioral sciences, and five years of experience in the field of corrections, parole or detention of offenders, including at least one year of supervisory and administrative/management experience (UTM/CSIII or above).
- Seven (7) years of experience in the field of corrections including at least two (2) years of administrative/management experience (UTM/CSIII or above) in the field of corrections or detention of offenders.
Licensing & Certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Meet the minimum qualifications for a Corrections Officer IA; have successfully completed the Corrections Officer Training Program (COTP).
- Five (5) years of relevant experience in the field of corrections or in the detention of convicted offenders including at least three (3) years of corrections or detention administrative/management experience (UTM/ CSIII or above).
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements
- Candidate must pass a criminal background check and be free of any felony convictions. Must be free of misdemeanor convictions involving domestic battery, as an adult, unless the conviction was for a battery committed prior to July 1, 1997 and has been expunged.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on call as assigned by facility Warden to include rotational duty officer assignment
Compensation: $78,936.00-Starting Salary
