The Baxter Springs Police Department is currently accepting applications for highly motivated individuals to fill Full time and Part time Patrol Officer position(s). Baxter Springs is a community of approximately 4,000 citizens, covering approximately 1,200 square miles. Baxter Springs is approximately 11 miles west from the Missouri state line, with the Oklahoma state line being on the south side of town. Route 66 runs through downtown Baxter Springs.
Hours: 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off, and a Bi-Weekly pay schedule.
Pay scale:

Starting at $31,200 for uncertified officers.

Starting at $33,280 for certified officers, with additional compensation for years of service, and qualifications.

Officers are eligible for on-call and overtime when needed.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield health/dental Insurance single/family insurance. Employees are paid 100%, with family being paid 80%. Family insurance is approximately $500 a month.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Have the ability to obtain a valid Kansas Driver’s License.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be physically and mentally able to perform law enforcement duties.

Must not have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence, certain misdemeanor crimes, or any felony. You must not have any Brady-Giglio issues.

Possess good moral character
We are a progressive law enforcement agency that employs (9) full-time sworn police officers, including a School Resource Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Detective, Assistant Chief, and Chief. With part-time and reserve police officers.
Patrol duties include enforcing federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, investigating crimes and accidents, and providing public assistance. We strive to be active in out community and to model professionalism while fulfilling our department mission:

Final candidates will be required to pass an extensive background investigation. A conditional job offer requires applicants to pass a psychological evaluation and physical and drug screen.
