The Eudora Police Department is seeking motivated individuals to join our team!

Located in Eudora, KS, a growing community with a population of 6,600, we are situated just 15 minutes east of Lawrence and 20 minutes west of the Kansas City Metro area!

We are looking for responsible, proactive applicants with high integrity for a full time Police Officer position! Candidates must be able to pass drug & physical screenings, background check & psychological testing, have a valid Kansas driver's license, and a high school degree or GED is required.  While a Kansas Law Enforcement Certificate is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate!

Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Protect the life and property of citizens
  • Operating a patrol vehicle or walking during assigned shifts to monitor for violations of traffic laws, suspicious activities, and disturbances, thereby maintaining a visible police presence in the community.
  • Interviews victims and witnesses to obtain additional information regarding crime, accidents, violations, etc.
  • Investigating crimes, collecting evidence, and conducts searches.
  • Responding to radio dispatches, handling calls and complaints, serving warrants and summons, completing arrest records, and investigating licenses.
  • Enforcing traffic laws, investigates accidents, issues traffic citations and provides medical assistance.
  • Conducting police escorts, directing traffic, performing residential and commercial business checks.
  • Participate in a various in-service and special training programs.
  • Conducts departmental outreach and education programs to the public.
  • Provides animal control services.
  • Offering security at special and community events.
  • Ensuring security during Municipal Court hearings.
  • Potentially being assigned to collateral duty assignments such as School Resource Officer, Detective, Field Training Officer.
  • Opportunity for promotion to Master Patrolman, Patrol Sergeant and Lieutenant.

Selection Process

The selection process includes an oral board interview, extensive background check, drug screening, and both physical and psychological testing.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school or GED diploma.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • KLETC certified officers preferred but not required; we will train the right person.
  • No felony, domestic violence or serious misdemeanor offenses.
  • Must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license.

Pay:  $23.64- $28.36 per hour; Starting salary varies depending on qualifications and experience.
