The Morton County Sheriff's Office, Elkhart KS, is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Our Office is looking for a proactive and dedicated individual. This position is responsible for performing uniformed patrol duties and enforcing all federal, state, and local laws. Serve Court documents for civil and criminal proceedings. Aid the public daily. All other duties as assigned by the Sheriff. Applicant must be able to live and work in a rural community. Morton County has Highways K-27, K-51, and US-56.
Minimum qualifications:

No Felony or disqualifying convictions

Must be a U.S. citizen

Must be at least 21 years of age

Pass a pre-employment background investigation and interview, able to pass a drug test, and pre-employment physical

No Brady/Giglio issues
-
Possess at least a high school diploma or GED

Possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:

Current Law Enforcement Officer certificate from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center or the ability to pass Kansas Law Enforcement Training within first year of employment or be eligible for reciprocity.
